Chocolate Oats with a Warm Plum / Pear Sauce

Do you want to make yourself or someone else happy in the morning? I mean really, really happy. Here is the perfect way to do it. Prepare this wonderful and incredibly delicious breakfast.

I call it autumn on a plate because it breaths the whole season. The colors, the ingredients and the overall mood. It’s warm, soothing, sweet and the elderberry syrup gives it an earthy flavor.

Picture yourself having this breakfast on a cozy morning inside while it’s raining ouside and leaves are falling off the trees. What is a better way to start a day like that?

Ingredients for one person

  • 4 big tablespoons of oats
  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 pear
  • 1 plum
  • some walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of cacao nibs
  • 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons of elderberry syrup

Bring the milk to a boil in a small pan. Add the oats, the cacao powder and the cinnamon and simmer for about 4 -5 minutes until it gets thicker.

In the meanwhile you can cut the pear and the plum into pieces. Heat up some oil of butter in a frying pan and add the pear and the plum. Fry them for a couple of minutes until they get softer. Add the elderberry syrup at the and and fry everything for another 30 seconds.

Put the oats on a plate and put the plum / pear sauce on top. Add the rest of the ingredients and breakfast is ready. (Elderberry syrup isn’t a must but it does give an extra touch).
